After graduating from Virginia Tech with degrees in International Business and French and a minor in Spanish, I returned to my hometown of Richmond, VA, beginning a 6-year career with a “Big 4” accounting firm, specializing in U.S. expatriate and foreign national taxation. As the International Tax Manager, I collaborated with global offices and traveled often for client consultations.
Seeking a better work-life balance, I served as Vice President and Tax Director at a local Financial Planning/Investment Management firm for over 18 years. I delved into complex individual, trust, and estate taxation and worked in tandem with the firms’ financial advisors for comprehensive financial and tax planning. Despite the rewarding journey, I yearned for a shift in focus.
In June 2023, I launched Banks Mountain Financial with the goals of offering meticulous tax preparation and planning services for select clients and devoting more time to family and community endeavors.
My tax accounting approach is holistic; beyond crunching numbers, I strive to learn clients’ unique backgrounds and help them plan accordingly for the future. I aim to be a trusted advisor who eases the burden of tax compliance on clients who prefer to focus elsewhere in their lives.
On the personal side, I’ve been blessed with three amazing children: Brenan, a Benedictine graduate and Chesterfield County firefighter resides in Albemarle County; Erin Beth, a Virginia Tech and Liberty University graduate and high school math teacher resides in Nelson County; and Emy Leigh, a junior at Appalachian State University, is pursuing her dream of being an elementary teacher. We cherish moments in the Blue Ridge mountains and on the shores of Virginia Beach. For me, family comes first, but I also have a penchant for gardening, baseball, the Tour de France, house renovations, and travel.
